Royal AK Strain Information
Royal AK offers respectable levels of THC, a rapid flowering time, and a clear-headed yet physically stoning high. But where exactly did this strain inherit all of her desirable traits from? Well, our expert breeders here at Royal Queen Seeds created this cultivar by crossing four legendary landrace varieties. They started the project off with Colombian, a landrace from its namesake country that boasts flavours of lemon and lime and features pure sativa genetics. Next up, they invited Mexican to the party, a landrace that provides a giggly and relaxing effect and features unusual tastes of tobacco and wood. The addition of Thai and Afghan landraces introduced further potency and stoning effects into the equation. Overall, Royal AK emerged from this complex cross with 60% sativa genetics and 40% indica.
Royal AK Characteristics
Royal AK plants display a sativa-dominant morphology throughout the growing cycle, reaching heights of 140 cm and 170 cm indoors and outdoors, respectively, when left untrained. However, if you’d rather care for more compact plans, simply apply LST, topping, and other training techniques to keep plants as small as 80 cm indoors and 130 cm out in the garden. This cultivar boasts a swift flowering time, with her pre-flowers quickly developing into mature and resin-drenched colas in just 8–9 weeks. Make sure you have enough stash jars to cure up to 575 g/m² from indoor plants and up to 650 g/plant from their outdoor counterparts.

Royal AK Flavour and Aroma
Royal AK inherited flavour components from each of her four landrace ancestors. Terpenes including myrcene and limonene contribute fruity, musky, and earthy flavours that make for a rich sensory experience. Several different esters also add hints of strawberry to the mix. Finally, high levels of volatile sulphur compounds contribute pungent gassy and skunky notes. These contrasting yet complementary tastes are apparent with every hit from a joint or bong, but are especially notable when vaped at lower temperatures.

Germinating Royal AK Seeds
Soak your Royal AK seeds in a glass of water for 12–24 hours to speed up the germination process. Next, sow them into cell trays containing a high-quality potting mix. Add a pinch of mycorrhiza powder into the hole to inoculate your seeds with a microbe that will enhance root system development, boost nutrient acquisition, and help protect against nasty fungal pathogens. Maintain a temperature around 25°C and humidity of 70–80%, and your sprouts will breach the surface of the soil in no time at all. Start running your lights for 24 hours per day during the first week to prevent legginess and allow your seedlings to establish themselves. Transplant them into a pot size of 10–20 litres once their true leaves grow past the circumference of their cells.
-
Vegetative Phase
Welcome to the vegetative stage! Now, you can switch to a light cycle of 18 hours on and six hours off to save on energy while facilitating optimal growth. All going well, your Royal AK weed plants will stand at a height of around 8 cm by the end of week two and 15 cm at the end of week three. Apply topping, LST, and other training techniques during this time if you’d like to keep your plants on the smaller side. If you’re aiming to grow outdoors, move your containers into a sunny but sheltered spot as soon as the risk of frost has completely passed. Expect your plants to grow to 60–130 cm, depending on training techniques and pot size, by the end of veg. Indoors, switch to a light cycle of 12 hours on and 12 hours off to trigger bloom during week seven of the growing cycle.
-
Flowering Phase
The Royal AK weed strain will start stretching during bloom as flowering hormone production increases. Trained plants in small containers indoors will grow to just 80 cm, whereas untrained plants in large pots will top out at around 140 cm. Outdoors, trained plants will reach 130 cm when grown in big pots, with their untrained counterparts surging to 170 cm. Defoliate frequently during bloom to boost airflow in the canopy and reduce the risk of fungal infections. Ensure that each bud site is exposed to direct light to facilitate proper development. Prepare to harvest 525–575 g/m² from indoor plants after a brief flowering period of just 8–9 weeks. Outdoors, you’ll pull in a rewarding return of up to 650 g/plant during early October.
