Diesel Auto Strain Information
As an autoflowering version of the legendary New York City Diesel, the Diesel Auto strain offers gassy flavors and impressive yields in a fraction of the time it takes for the original cultivar to reach harvest. As the progeny of both NYC Diesel and Lowryder #2, Diesel Auto plants possess 40% sativa genetics, 30% indica, and 30% ruderalis. This spread of genetics ensures small and compact plants ideal for tight spaces and stealthy situations.
NYC Diesel, also called NYC Sour Diesel, descends from a blend of Mexican and Afghani landraces. The strain exploded in popularity following its release thanks to its aromas of lime and grapefruit, energetic high, and five Cannabis Cup trophy wins. Meanwhile, Lowryder 2 (Lowryder x Santa Maria) serves up sweet and spicy flavors with rapid growth times. Together, these two strains have passed down mouth-watering flavors, impressive productivity, and top-tier efficiency to Diesel Auto.
Diesel Auto Characteristics
The Diesel Auto marijuana strain serves up an attractive list of traits that make it a favorite among many auto specialists.
Among these qualities, her size and speed make her particularly popular. Indoor plants grow to just 40cm when subject to low-stress training (LST) and top out at 70cm when left to develop a large central cola. Outdoors, plants grow to 60–110cm, depending on pot size and the training techniques used.
The small size of Diesel Autoflower makes it an ideal choice for growers dealing with tight indoor and outdoor spaces; plants will happily produce sizeable yields in small grow tents and in secluded areas of the garden. Alongside her compact structure, Diesel Auto cruises through the entire growing cycle in just 13–14 weeks, with a flowering phase of just 8–10 weeks. Whether you’re in dire need of a stash or prioritise stealth above all else, this strain has you covered.

Diesel Auto Taste
Every time you take a hit of a joint or blunt packed with Diesel Auto flowers, you’ll encounter a contrasting yet complementary flavor profile. A gassy and fuel-like flavor penetrates the mix and comes to the forefront during the exhale. Fruity flavors are detectable around the edges, with notes of citrus and sweetness adding a moreish element to the experience.
These flavors are underpinned by a range of different phytochemicals present within Diesel Auto flowers. Both esters and volatile sulphur compounds contribute to the gassy tastes, whereas high levels of terpenes (limonene and linalool) are responsible for the citrusy notes.
Away from smoking, you’ll get a much deeper appreciation for these molecules when vaping this strain, an administration method that eliminates the flavor-masking compounds created during combustion. Diesel Auto buds are also a favorite among cannabis chefs, where their savoury and sweet tastes complement an assortment of dishes.

Diesel Auto Effects
Diesel Auto’s THC level clocks in at just 14%. While relatively low compared to powerhouse contemporary strains, the cultivar still exerts a pleasant and noticeable effect. This quantity of THC brings on a gentle, subtle, and relaxing high that keeps the mind clear and functional. However, THC doesn’t act alone when it comes to Diesel Auto’s effects. Remember those flavorful chemicals we touched on above?
Well, the same molecule that underpins her taste also contributes to the overall subjective psychoactive experience. Constituents such as limonene add an energising and mind-clearing effect, whereas concentrations of beta-caryophyllene provide a physically soothing sensation. Overall, you can expect a gentle and pleasant high marked by creativity, clarity, and bodily relaxation.
Growing Diesel Auto
Small, swift, and productive, Diesel Auto stands as an easy and rewarding weed strain to grow. She’s ideal for novices and seasoned growers looking for a quick and easy stash. Below, you’ll find out what you can expect during each stage of the growing cycle, from germination to the luscious growth of the vegetative phase and ending with bloom and harvesting. Let’s get into it!
-
Germinating Diesel Auto
Diesel Auto does best when directly sown into an 11L pot. Because of her rapid growth, exposing her to stress when transplanting can stunt her growth. To sidestep this issue, simply fill your final container with a growing medium rich in organic matter and pop in your seed.
Add a pinch of mycorrhizal fungi powder before covering the hole and misting. As soon as sprouts emerge from the soil (usually 2–3 days after sowing), start running your indoor grow lights for 24 hours daily. Within a week, your Diesel Auto seedling will stand at a height of around 5cm.
-
Vegetative Phase
Diesel Auto doesn’t grow big, but she certainly packs on mass quickly relative to her size. In an 11L pot, you can expect your plant to have grown to 10cm by the end of week two. From here, you can simply keep your plant in the same position or move your pot outdoors to a sunny yet sheltered spot. During the third week of veg, apply LST to keep your plants at just 40–60cm throughout the rest of the growing cycle.
If you’d prefer slightly taller plants, leave them untrained to peak at 70–110cm. Make sure to water your plants only when the top few centimetres of soil are completely dry, and feed them a couple of times a week with an organic liquid feed high in nitrogen.
-
Flowering Phase
Expect your Diesel Auto plants to stretch during the start of bloom. Make an effort to prune away any yellowing leaves and those obstructing bud sites from direct light. Reduce the indoor light cycle to 18 hours on and 6 hours off to save on energy. Apply a fertiliser higher in potassium and phosphorus and lower in nitrogen to assist flower development.
Trigger a flush during the final two weeks of the growing cycle to produce better-tasting buds. After 13–14 weeks of cultivation, prepare to harvest up to 375g/m² from indoor plants and 60–110g/plant from their outdoor counterparts.
