Joanne’s CBD Strain Information
In order to create a strain high in CBD, low in THC, and packed with tasty terpenes, our breeders had to carefully select the right parent genetics for the job. To form the foundation for the cultivar, they decided to use the legendary Juanita la Lagrimosa. As the offspring of New York City Diesel and Reina Madre, this strain possesses an impressive CBD content of 22% and THC levels of just 0.7%. Next up, to bring the THC level down ever further and to add tastes of candy and fruit, our breeders introduced Session into the equation. Overall, Joanne’s CBD emerged from this pairing as a sativa-dominant hybrid with 75% sativa genetics and 25% indica.
Joanne’s CBD Characteristics
Joanne’s CBD features both sativa and indica traits when it comes to her size and structure. Plants grow relatively short and bushy as indicas do, yet feature thin leaflets characteristic of sativa strains. Indoors, plants grow up to 120 cm, sending up a large central cola when untrained. However, top and train them and they’ll remain at just 80 cm when grown in smaller containers. Outdoors, plants grown directly in the ground or in large pots placed in a sunny position will surge to a height of 180 cm. A brief flowering time of 7–8 weeks makes this strain suitable for areas that experience shorter growing seasons. When harvest time swings around in early October outdoors, you’ll pull in long, tapered colas covered in frosty trichomes.

Joanne’s CBD Taste
Out of all of Joanne’s CBD’s characteristics, her scrumptious flavor is among the most sought after. Her parent strains passed down an array of flavorful molecules, including terpenes, volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs), and esters. Concerning the former, Joanne’s CBD contains significant concentrations of the terpenes myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene, which pull most of the weight of the flavor profile. Myrcene contributes musky and fruity notes, limonene adds tastes of citrus, and caryophyllene lends hints of spice and pepper to the mix.
However, several VSCs add gentle but notable notes of skunk, while esters contribute even more fruitiness to the equation. Overall, you can expect waves of candy, fruit, and pepper to please your taste buds every time you take a hit of Joanne’s CBD.

Joanne’s CBD Effects
Let’s continue our Joanne’s CBD strain review by honing in on the effects of the cultivar. Unlike with high-THC varieties, you won’t feel stoned or sluggish when using this strain, nor will you develop an irresistible appetite. In contrast, the high levels of CBD and aromatic terpenes in these flowers produce a lucid, elevating, and clear-headed effect. Perfect for daytime use, Joanne’s CBD flowers will mentally refresh you and refine your ability to focus. Whether you’re writing an essay, reading a book, pursuing a work project, or simply watching a film, this strain will put your mind in a crystal-clear place.
Growing Joanne’s CBD
Cannabis users adore the aromas, flavors, and effects of Joanne’s CBD, while growers have fallen in love with her large yields of sticky buds. Continue reading to learn what to expect when cultivating this variety, from germination all the way through to harvest time.

Germinating Joanne’s CBD Seeds
Joanne’s CBD seeds have a great germination rate. For the best results, soak your seeds in water for 12–24 hours before sowing them. Then, sow them into cell trays, adding a pinch of mycorrhizal fungi over them before lightly covering them with soil. Shoots will emerge within the next 2–3 days. Start running your lamps for 24 hours per day during the seedling phase to prevent legginess and facilitate healthy healthy growth. And remember, only water the growing medium once the top few centimetres is completely dry; this will help to prevent early tragedies like damping off.
-
Vegetative Phase
Once the first true leaves of your seedlings extend past the circumference of each cell, they're ready for transplanting! You have several choices here. You can either transplant directly into their final pots, aiming for a size of 11 litres or larger. Alternatively, if you plan on growing outdoors, transplant into 1-litre pots indoors until your plants are mature enough to handle the elements. You can expect your vegging plants to reach a height of around 10 cm by the end of week two. During week three, transplant specimens destined for the outdoors directly into the ground or in large containers in a sunny spot.
Expect your plants to reach a height of around 20 cm by week four of veg. Consider applying topping and training during this time to keep plants on the shorter side while enhancing their productivity.
At the end of week six of veg, switch over to a light cycle of 12 hours on and 12 hours off indoors. Outdoors, you’ll have to wait for the seasonal light to wane for blooming to commence.
-
Flowering Phase
During the beginning of the flowering phase, Joanne’s CBD plants tend to stretch, topping out at 80–120 cm indoors (depending on pot size and training techniques used) and 140–180 cm outdoors. Make sure to defoliate your plants as needed to expose all developing buds to direct light. Remember to flush your plants two weeks before harvest to allow the terpenes to shine through when it comes time to smoke up. After a flowering phase of 7–8 weeks, prepare to harvest 500–550 g/m² from indoor plants. Outdoors, you’ll pull in 425–475 g from each of your full-grown Joanne’s CBD plants during early October.
